Far will offer its services in the design and conceptualization of new products and services, specializing in low carbon vehicles. The business will offer its clients a range of services from day rate contracting on specific projects or manufacture of specific components for parts of projects through to a full service proposition.
For example, in the full service, Far will design the key structural elements of carbon fibre vehicles, build and validate the prototypes for the client and then offer the on-going supply of structural elements or transfer the key technologies so that the customers can build their own vehicles. This may include the production of small runs of vehicles for road testing and publicity purposes as well as the design and laying out of factories for clients to initiate their own production. Far is also working with a range of non-automotive customers where the core skills the company possess can offer real added value to those customers.
Established in 2012; Far is led by a management team with a broad experience of high performing solutions mostly from the automotive industry. Initially the business was formed by three directors. Between them they have a strong background in carbon fibre composites and their application within low emissions vehicles. Additionally, they have operational management experience in a number of international corporations and also operated as process improvement consultant for similar customers.
Since then the company has continued to grow and has consistently recruited talented individuals. The team includes several employees holding PhDs in a relevant technical discipline as well as several members with strong composites practitioner backgrounds.
In 2013, Far was part of the successful Composites Innovation Cluster that received funding under the Advanced Materials Supply Chain Initiative to bring advanced composites into wider use in UK manufacturing. The company also won the North West Automotive Alliance award for innovation, which was presented by Jaguar Land Rover.
